One important consideration is that this court order is not about one phone
and one crime.

This court order is about the First phone.

Technical issue aside.

Once demonstrated as possible any court could require Apple to deliver the
same service. Any court: civil, criminal, domestic, international..

The problem with this and court orders is all court orders are "equal" and
Apple cannot judge one as frivolous, criminal, valid, important... without
serious expense.
A massive flood of requests from "fault based" divorce states.
Any border control...
Any court... not just US civil and criminal, local, state, federal but all
courts
China, Iran, France, Germany, Cuba...

This forces Apple to provide a service with no legal context domestic or
international
to manage the service and no legal context to keep Apple from being party
to international
intrigue and espionage by other nations.

The only good news is that it may be moot.

If this is a valid hack there may be additional remedies to allow Apple to
ignore this.

The hack does show a bug/ risk to be fixed..
