Forgive me for assuming he needs no introduction. Peter died Sunday at the age of 93. He was still talking about computer security last Friday.

He was one of the minds behind MULTICS, the founder/editor of the RISKS digest, and an OS security and cryptography person since about 1960, maybe earlier. He was always friendly and kind, clever, and funny. Also adept at bad puns. When I started doing OS kernels, over forty years ago, my mentors told me that if you didn't subscribe to RISKS you weren't serious about this. I am honored and privileged to have been his coauthor twice. There's a great NYT obit written by John Markoff.

Thanks, Peter, for everything.

	Jon
