Yes.

But it is tricky. One needs to regularly backup passwords, in a way that 
is recoverable by a one or several specific third party(ies), while not 
being recoverable by any other third parties.

Easy to get wrong. (Reminds me of that cryptography-something vote that 
had to be redone.)

The online password services* like 1password, Lastpass should have 
widow/widower recovery features. Do they?

*  I personally don't trust them, they have too many inherently 
dangerous convenience features. And like everything that is now cloud, 
too many internal implementation details that I think are dangerous.
