A device that shines enough energy to illuminate through a wall should 
not be too hard to detect. As Peter said, that's not a problem if we are 
trying to locate people in burning building. But if a company sells that 
as a magic weapon, I expect another company to sell the alarm device, so 
whoever is attacked gets an early warning.
