For sure you have more experience and expertise than me, so it's a
pleasure to read your PoV even if we don't agree.
Let me only add, hoping it's an useful contribution to the debate, that
just yesterday after posting I heard this podcast with Dan Boneh:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-HG87VJj_k
I know DB is one of the Google paper authors, so maybe he's someway
biased, but even if so (I don't know if he is, but let's say he is to
consider worst case scenario) it's quite interesting what he said
between 43:42 and 45:00
https://youtu.be/F-HG87VJj_k?si=KlNwRbM4KVbmoPcV&t=2622
Maybe he just wanted to increase hype, but the way he reacted to
"Classified?" is quite interesting imho (BTW, that "classified?" doesn't
appear in transcriptions)
I know being classified (IF SO) doesn't necessarily means a breakthrough
discovery, but relevance seems likely.
And last but not least, Google ZKP was scrutinized by trailofbits,
problems has been found, and the proof was corrected:

So I don't see obvious misconduct
Best regards!
Andrea
