I have to say that I'm impressed that I seem to be the only person in this
discussion who has looked to see what DIN 66399, now ISO/IEC 21964 actually
says.
The T series pf specs that includes T-7 2.5mm² chips is for magnetic media, like
floppy disks and access cards. There is a separate H series for hard drives, H-1
to H-7, where H-7 is "split, deformed, 5mm²" chips. They're four times as big
but I agree with you that even at that size it is extremely unlikely that anyone
could recover anything.
R's,
John
