[Cryptography] Ranking what draws surveillance attention

Discussion of the obvious political topics (crimethought) draws surveillance attention, working on blockchains or certain privacy tools draws coercive and very unpleasant attention to put backdoors in those tools.  I could name some backdoored tools, but such a list is unlikely to be allowed on this mailing list.

But you are mainly interested in stuff relevant to journalism, and on that I have no idea.
