OTOH, maybe we need to chill and face up to the fact that if the 
security system is wound up so tight as to be unusable by ordinary 
managers, then these sorts of things are going to happen.

It's the eternal fight of convenience versus security. If the security 
system is so secure that it is too inconvenient to use, then nobody will 
use it and it secures *nothing*.
