In the domain of cryptography, Trust means someone can screw you over by
acting in bad faith. But that's not the kind of trust we're talking
about here.  We should probably have different words for these concepts.

In the field of business, Trust means we can tell that someone has the
assets to comply with the terms of such contracts as they have entered
and is subject to the jurisprudence of some entity capable of forcing
them to do so (and also forcing them to conform to other expectations of
legal behavior), and does not have some legal status (such as being a
minor citizen) that could prevent someone legally entering relationships
and contracts.

And one way or another, business-domain Trust comes down to
relationships and identity.

Bitcoin ties assets (of dubious value) to anonymous/pseudonymous
entities, but absolutely failed on all other points of business-domain
trust, with disastrous results. Tying the other aspects of
business-domain trust to anonymous or pseudonymous entities, without
introducing cryptography-domain Trust, is at best intractable and
requires insights we haven't yet had.
