I'm fond of the saying that a stopped clock is right twice a day, and often observe that a clock running backwards is right four times a day, it's just useless as a clock. 

Moreover a clock that gains a second per year, is essentially never right -- I mean, a century or so from now, it's going to be a minute or so fast.
