[Cryptography] Double ratchet and the security of edited messages

Hi everyone,

So I only just noticed now that Signal allows editing messages. Turns out the merge was in 2023 😅

Haven’t had time to look into the commit, but just thought I’d ask here if anyone knows how the protocol itself handles the security of edited messages i.e has the protocol been modified to accomodate going backwards in the ratchet sequence, or is this more a UI hack (like continuing on but hiding previously edited messages in the interface)?
