Speaking of cryptography and France, my mother explained us how during 
WW2 my grandpa's resistance organization was using a grille cipher to 
send information to their British Intelligence Service partners. As a 
teenager, she was asked to fill the text around the grille to make it 
look natural and plausible. And I don't think that anyone bothered 
registering that use with the French authorities of the time...

Nowadays, some text generator could probably replace the teenager.
