to be clear: What I wrote was that there are well-known public 
challenges to find preimages, and that if someone had a valid method to 
find one, then the collision for one of them should be in the first 
three lines of a paper describing the attack.  To the extent that I 
issued a challenge, I said McDair should correct his paper and add the 
extra information.

It was Michael who actually pointed out one of the targets as a more 
specific challenge.
