[Cryptography] I am not against good cryptocurrencies. I just don't think you can build one with a block chain protocol.

Yes, there was a bug (unrelated to cryptography) that allowed inflation briefly but it was fixed rather quickly:

Additional research into stronger cryptography will have the positive effect of improving online security, as well as incentivizing research into post-quantum cryptography.
