The overarching complaint seems to be inbox stress, people are complaining
about getting work emails, bills, etc.  However pretty much everything else is
much, much worse: Instead of getting email that you can ignore at your
leisure, or at least until you feel like dealing with it, the alternative will
be IM notifications that hit you in real time.
