Matt,

It "seems" to work.
But, transaction times are horribly slow and time consuming.
There are other peoples, who have more knowledge about Blockchain
infrastructure.
But as far as I know, one bitcoin transaction may be completed in HOURS!!
It need lots of CPU power and storage requirement.
The only way to keep using Blockchain technology as a monetary system
will be using "Central authorities"!
Our transactions will be kept on those authorities and only
transactions between those authorities will be logged on "more central
and probably private" blockchain network.
So, blockchain doesn't work as "it promised us to work" on its creation.
It doesn't give us freedom of transaction "without intermediaries".

With actual monetary system, you need governments and banks.
With Bitcoin, you still need some authorities:
 1. You will need banks. That's sure! They will probably call them
with different names. But they will be banks!
 2. Governments want also take their share from the pie. And they will
probably take it.

There have been a struggle for a very long time between governments
and finance capital; for centuries:
  "Who will pass behind ordinary people and exploit it?"

With current situation, Bitcoin is the best weapon of International
finance-capital against governments in history.
With current Blockchain technology, we will be slaves of banks and
International finance-capital and governments will be more weak!

As ordinary people, in actual situation, thanks to Blockchain
technology, we are just pawns and slaves of this war:
We're just helping our future "master" who will enslave us!

What we need and want, as ordinary people, is, not to need any
intermediary nor any central authority!
To finalize:

Current blockchain technology and Bitcoin works!
But it works "only" on behalf on International finance capital!
Not for us! Not even for our governments!
Bitcoin is the biggest trojan horse ever seen during world history!
