This is a chicken-and-egg problem. Debian (which ubuntu is based on) will
not package b2sum until it gets traction and it won't get traction until a
distributor bundles it in their system. There actually is a bug in the
database -- https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=734112 --
maybe it ought to get more votes. -- H
