When I do not get caught by Gmail's limited interface I think about email
replies as a context diff.    I use a threaded mail reader and like it when
I
remember to include enough context to remind myself what
I am replying to and enough so someone can follow me. Knowing that some
can reread a previous thought without my hacked edits and [...]
