One data point... I called my 4G phone inside my refrigerator with my very
old spare phone
and it rang.  I reversed the two and the old phone did not ring and quickly
went to vmail.

So it can depend on bands, towers and stuff.... but a refrigerator is not a
reliable
Faraday cage.
