I should expand on that a bit:  This GUI element is used for all kinds  
of things tied to a window, not just passwords.  For example, if you  
try to close a window that contains stuff you haven't saved, the same  
element is used to ask you to confirm, save now, or cancel.  So it's a  
pretty familiar thing to Mac users....
